Wonderful Nothingness

Eek! 4:50am is gross! We got up and quickly got ready and were driving towards the gas station by 5:20. Shortly after that we were dropping off the rental car with 982.7k more than it started with and getting a quick ride to the terminal. We checked our bags, passed quickly through security, and got some breakfast of a latte for me and apple for Dave. I sat down to do some writing and could not find my hard drive…hmm. I always keep it in my black carry on bag but it just wasn’t there. Dave insisted that we could not have left it behind but I hadn’t seen it since Tullah so I was sad that it might be missing. I guess those people wouldn’t really know what to do with it anyways though. So that was mildly concerning but we boarded quickly and I just hoped it was in my checked bag. On the plane, those Virgin Blue people continued to treat us like idiots…laptop away!! Just standing there waiting for you..kk, I got it! Hehe, we also got scolded for talking too. Oh well. The flight was ok, very quick. I wrote the whole way, read a bit too, and Dave slept. Once we arrived, the lady in front of us opened up the storage ‘locker’ (bin) and this giant bag of something came crashing down on my head. Ow!! I had to hold back tears. It really hurt!! The lady apologized and of course it wasn’t her fault, especially because she had asked the flight attendant if she could put it there because she was afraid it wouldn’t fit and would move around during the flight. The flight attendant told her it would not move, which was an odd thing to say…I mean, we were going quite fast…it’s a plane and all! Anyways, we got our luggage, waited in the cab stand, and finally made it back to SUV. I showered, and we talked about sleeping but it never happened (btw, hard drive was in my luggage just as Dave said it would be). Instead we made an awesome lunch of garlic and soy sauce kangaroo with mushrooms, string beans, and rice. It was so SO good. I am a big fan of kangaroo. I think because there is practically no fat. Plus, you really can’t go wrong putting garlic on anything.

It was a beautiful day out and I suggested we talk a walk because I wanted to get a USyd hoodie to show some pride 😉 I picked out a nice black one and Dave actually bought it for me 🙂 I didn’t mean for that to happen but it was very nice of him. From there we decided that we should have some drinks and watch some 30 Rock and the Office that Travis had downloaded. We got some soda and I had Absolut Vanilia with orange soda and Dave had rum and coke. We sat in the living room and watched both episodes which was actually so so fun. Around 3:45 I commented that we should be leaving for class…and then we both laughed and laughed…hahahha. We began formulating plans for new years 2009…Cuba is #1 of course, but we also were trying out different places like Madagascar, Jordan, Rio…lol good times. I do think it’s too early to book though because all the rates were quite high. Around 8 we hit up Janani, an Indian/Sri Lankan place for dinner and had butter chicken and shrimp curry as well as this potato thing. Really good!! After that we made a stop at Ice + Slice for raspberry gelato. That was also good. We went back to Dave’s place, chatted more about New Years, listened to music, and went to bed early yet again. We have to be downtown by around 7:25 for our tour of Hunter Valley!! Today was great…I guess it doesn’t really seem like there was a lot going on but sometimes it’s just nice to relax, do random things, and just slow down for a minute. This vacation is great 🙂
