About Us

Welcome to our blog! We are Chandra and Dave and together we have trekked the Himalayas, explored Namibia by quad bike, jumped off a mountain in Brazil (and South Africa), gotten hopelessly lost in Bosnia, found penguins in Tasmania and traversed all of Canada by train. We are professionals. We are travel bloggers. But we are not professional travel bloggers. Unlike many of our favorite bloggers, we haven’t picked up and left home in favor of life on the road. At least not yet. On the contrary, we both work full-time jobs for high-profile organizations and live in New York City. So how do we still manage to travel so much?

We believe that travel is an imperative. For us, traveling is not a luxury. It’s an integral part of how we have come to understand the world, and the most enjoyable way to spend our time and money. Travel is our priority and the goal of this blog is not to inspire you to quit your job and become a nomad, but rather to realize that you don’t need to in order experience all that our world has to offer. We have been writing about our travel experiences since 2003 and between us have traveled to over 100 countries on 6 continents. Balancing a life at home means finding exceptionally exciting and unique adventures for the little vacation time we have.

Our Story

It was a University dining hall and some mutual friends that led to our first meeting. But we wouldn’t become a couple until seven years later thanks to an unlikely re-connection and some inopportune timing. Unfortunately, our re-connection came just weeks before Dave was moving from New York to Sydney Australia. With our first date in Provincetown, second in New York and third in Saigon, we knew we were off to an unusual start from the beginning. Over the next two years our relationship grew, even with 10,000 miles between us. Thankfully that gap eventually dropped to 200 miles, and then to zero. In 2010, Dave staged an elaborate proposal in Israel that Chandra would deem “the best engagement story ever“. Later that year we were married, and in January 2013, our baby girl was born.

How We Pay the Bills

Chandra is a statistician by training and works for a research company. She holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Masters in Psychology. Following a career in international marketing, Dave is fortunate enough to work in the travel industry. He holds a Bachelors degree in business and a Masters degree in international business and entrepreneurship. He has been published in many travel publications and is a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post.

We also provide bespoke trip planning services and exclusive group tours to exotic destinations like Southern Africa and the Galapagos. For more on that, click here.

Where We’ve Been

Enjoy!

On this blog you’ll find posts written by both Dave and Chandra; not all of our travel experiences feature us both. Now with our daughter, we are learning to explore in a whole new way, as we are determined to show her as much of the world as possible from a very young age. In addition to writing about our travels, we also enjoy sharing tips and tricks that we’ve learned along the way. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re happy to provide more information about any destination you see on this site.
